Abstract

We report a novel dual-stage broadband discrete Raman amplifier which improves low wavelength noise figure by 3.3dB providing 1.2dB Q2 factor improvement and 1134km reach extension versus a conventional single-stage design for 18×120Gb/s PM-QPSK transmission.
