Linearized Photonic Down-Conversion Using Second-Harmonic Generation

Abstract

We demonstrate that second harmonic generation effectively doubles the modulation index of a phase modulator, and simulate a photonic down-conversion system that exploits the enhanced modulation index to improve linearity without substantially reducing gain.
