Capacity Improvement Using Dual-Carrier FEC Gain Sharing in Submarine Optical Communications

Abstract

Dual-carrier SD-FEC gain sharing is utilized as a nonlinearity mitigation strategy for coherent super-channels in the context of submarine communications. Up to 0.68 dB benefit in Q and 50% more capacity is demonstrated.
