Novel 12QAMo Modulation Format for Improved 200G Performance Trade-off

Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a 3.5-bits/symbol/polarization 12QAMo modulation format. This new format is shown to out-perform both 8QAM and 16QAM formats in 200G transmissions over 15x80 km of SSMF impaired by cascaded WSS filtering.
