OTN Switching for Improved Energy and Spectral Efficiency in WDM MLR Networks

Abstract

The application of OTN switching on top of a WDM layer is evaluated in terms of energy and spectral efficiency (SE). Significant improvements in energy-efficiency-per-GHz and SE are demonstrated with respect to conventional WDM architectures.
