Photonic Generation of Chirped Microwave Pulses with Precisely Targeted and Tuned Parameters Using External Modulation

Abstract

A photonic approach to generate chirped microwave pulses with precisely targeted and tuned parameters including central frequency, pulse repetition frequency, and chirp rate, is proposed. Such chirped pulses at 15 and 20GHz are experimentally demonstrated.
