A compact and wide-band polarization beam splitter based on wedge-shaped MMI coupler in silicon-on-insulator

Abstract

A compact polarization beam splitter is demonstrated in SOI employing a 1×3 wedge-shaped MMI coupler and a 2×2 MMI coupler. The measured extinction ratios are higher than 12dB within a wide wavelength range covering C-band.
