Polarization-Insensitive Phase-transmultiplexing of CSRZ-OOK and RZ-BPSK to RZ-QPSK via XPM in a PCF

Abstract

By utilizing cross-phase modulation, we demonstrated polarization-insensitive phase-transmultiplexing to RZ-QPSK in a photonic crystal fiber. The measured receiver sensitivity penalty at 10−9 BER was ≈1.8 dB for a randomly polarized CSRZ-OOK signal.
