Differential Mode Delay Management in Spliced Multimode Fiber Transmission Systems

Abstract

Influence of fiber splice to differential mode delay (DMD) in mode-division multiplexed fiber links is analyzed. We show that DMD managed links, even with significant mode coupling due to splices, strongly reduce the link DMD.
