All-Optical Regeneration of 40 Gb/s NRZ-DPSK Signals in a Single SOA

Abstract

We report wavelength-preserving and wavelength-converting regeneration of 40Gb/s DPSK data in a saturated SOA. Experimental investigation of small-signal SOA amplitude and phase response reveals the role of data/CW power balance for phase preserving operation.
