Clock Recovery and Jitter Sources in Coherent Transmission Systems

Abstract

Jitter sources in a coherent system are identified. Amongst them, chromatic dispersion and LO FM noise induced jitter is found to be significant. Conventional digital clock recovery schemes using over-sampled signals are reviewed.
