Knapsack-based Drop-and-Continue Traffic Grooming for Power and Resource Efficiency

Abstract

We propose a “knapsack grooming” algorithm for drop-and-continue lightpath routing, which not only saves energy, but also optimizes network performance in terms of blocking probability, wavelength-link usage, and bandwidth utilization.
