Interferometric Method for Phase Error Measurement in an Arrayed Waveguide Grating with a Free Space Output

Abstract

We demonstrate a simple phase error measurement technique for AWG that radiate to free-space. The pair-wise far-field interference pattern of adjacent waveguides is used to measure the relative phase shift, with 13mrad accuracy.
