Abstract
Recent optical fiber refractive index profile measurement advances include quantitative phase measurement, multi-wavelength spectroscopy, and computerized tomography. These new techniques, and their application to fiber-based components including tapers, splices, gratings, and couplers, are reviewed and discussed.
