Quantum Key Distribution over Atomic-Ensemble Quantum Repeaters

Abstract

The key generation rate for quantum key distribution systems that rely on quantum repeaters with atomic-ensemble memories is obtained. We find the cross-over distances at which quantum repeaters outperform direct entanglement-distribution links.
