Field-Deployed Scalable ROADM –Cost Reduction through Wavelength Overprovision

Abstract

We describe a field-deployed metro-WDM architecture with any-to-any wavelength connectivity. Through wavelength overprovision, it achieves low initial costs and complete flexibility without employing full ROADMs at every network node, and can be gracefully upgraded to full capacity.
