Brillouin-Based Random Fiber Optic Delay Line

Abstract

A continuous-wave light as Brillouin probe is linearly frequency-modulated to determine the location of the delayed pulse signal via stimulated Brillouin scattering. The random ~4-μs continuous tunability is experimentally demonstrated. The pulse distortion is also studied.
