Evaluation of Rayleigh scattering loss in photonic crystal fibers by using bi-directional OTDR measurement

Abstract

We investigate the scattering loss in photonic crystal fibers with different structures by using bi-directional OTDR measurement. Their intrinsic Rayleigh scattering coefficient is slightly less than that of conventional pure silica core single-mode fiber.
