Abstract

We develop a new technique for monitoring the ASE and MPI noises in a distributed Raman amplified system. The results showed that this technique, based on the polarization-nulling method, could accurately monitor these noises regardless of the bit rates, modulation formats, and OSNR levels of the signals.
