Effects of Structural Distortions on Photonic Band-gap Fibers

Abstract

A scanning electron micrograph of a photonic band-gap fiber profile is analyzed using a finite element method. It is shown that structural distortions have significant impacts on fiber properties such as bandwidth and tunneling loss.
