Impact of Modulation Format on the Performance of Fiber Optic Communication Systems with Transmitter-Based Electronic Dispersion Compensation

Abstract

We analyze the performance of 10.7 Gb/s G.652 fiber optic systems with transmitter- based EDC and advanced modulation formats and find that RZ-type formats offer ~2 dBQ advantage over NRZ-type formats due to their broader spectrum.
