A Polarization Controller for Air-Core Photonic-Bandgap Fiber

Abstract

We investigate the effects of twisting on the birefringence of an air-core fiber and demonstrate the first air-core fiber polarization controller, a simple device consisting of three short twisted fiber sections, with a 20-dB extinction ratio.
