An integrated 40-Gb/s burst-mode optical clock recovery circuit with nanosecond locking time is demonstrated. It has 643-fs RMS jitter. The integrated burst-mode optical clock recovery is also used to detect the envelope of 40-Gb/s RZ payloads with 3-ns rise time.
