Performance of high-sensitivity OOK, PPM, and DPSK communications using high-power slab-coupled optical waveguide amplifier (SCOWA) based transmitters

Abstract

We investigate the overall communications performance of high-power SCOWA-based transmitters with various modulation formats. Transmitter power efficiency and receiver sensitivity are considered, and compared to baseline measurements using standard EDFA-based master-oscillator power-amplifier transmitters.
