Abstract

We report a differential-phase-shift quantum key distribution experiment in which we employed single photon detectors based on frequency up-conversion in periodically poled lithium niobate waveguides. We achieved a sifted key rate of 1 Mbit/s over 30 km of optical fiber, which is two orders of magnitude larger than the previous record.
