Bend-induced distortion in microstructure and solid fibers with very large mode area

Abstract

Simulations show that bend-induced mode distortion should have a major impact on nonlinearities for fibers with very large cores, relevant to high-power amplifiers and lasers. Designs resistant to bend-induced distortion are proposed.
