Abstract

We propose and experimentally demonstrate all-optical conversion at 10 Gb/s from short-reach signal generated by a directly modulated laser diode to long-reach signal useful for transmission over 80-km standard single mode fiber without chromatic dispersion compensation. Operation in a wide output wavelength range over 30 nm is also demonstrated.
