Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a simple passive optical NRZ-to-RZ converter based on an optical filter. This filter could be made of a birefringent device and a polarizer. The measured results show that converted RZ signal is chirp-free and its duty ratio can be adjusted by varying the birefringence of optical filter.
