Low loss (1.7 dB/km) hollow core photonic bandgap fiber

Abstract

We report a silica hollow core photonic bandgap fiber with a minimum attenuation of 1.72 dB/km at 1565 nm wavelength and discuss the scaling of attenuation with wavelength and the minimum loss wavelength in this type of fiber.
