Economic Benefits of Transparent OXC Networks as Compared to Long Systems with OADMs

Abstract

Quantitative analysis shows that a transparent OXC network provides only up to 5% improvements in cost savings as compared to long systems with OADMs. Other unique advantages for transparent networks need to be proven-in before they are widely adopted.
