Abstract

Tapered waveguide mode transformers are shown to give <0.5dB per fiber-interface coupling loss in an integrated silicon-on-insulator EVOA. Switching times <300ns are demonstrated, as is a novel deep etched diode structure for increased EVOA efficiency.
