Noise Reduction Capabilities of a Raman-Mediated Wavelength Converter

Abstract

We describe ultra wide band, Raman-mediated wavelength conversion. Data conversion from long to short wavelength bands with significant noise reduction are demonstrated experimentally at 10 Gbit/s and confirmed by numerical simulations.
