Optical 3R Regeneration in 40 Gbit/s Pseudo-linear Transmission Systems

Abstract

Transmission over one million kilometers of nonzero dispersion fiber is achieved using optical 3R regeneration. Regeneration is obtained using synchronous modulation combined with 2R regeneration using self-phase modulation in highly nonlinear fiber and subsequent filtering.
