Low Nonlinearity Bismuth Oxide-based Erbium-doped Fiber Amplifiers for Short Pulse Amplification

Abstract

We compare the nonlinearity tolerance of a conventional silica-based fiber amplifier and a Bismuth-based fiber amplifier. The Bismuth-based amplifier has shown superior performance over the conventional amplifier for short pulse amplification.
