Abstract

In high-bit-rate optical communication systems using conventional optical fiber, there has been a strong demand for high performance optical transmitters. For this purpose, electro-absorption modulator (EAM) integrated DFB laser diodes (EAM-DFB) have been used as cost-effective optical transmitters for 2.5 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s applications.
