Abstract

Yesterday’s transport networks, with centrally planned and provisioned circuits, required databases with perfect knowledge of network and office bandwidth. But this approach required too much time to provide new service, which is unacceptable to the new bandwidth on demand services that are being deployed.A new type of trans- port network is required, one based on intelligent, dynamic network elements.
