Abstract

Simultaneous monitoring of channel wavelengths is important in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems owing to the wavelength drift of distributed feedback (DFB) lasers.1,2 For this purpose, a simple method was proposed using the crossover transmission property of the arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG).3 Each channel wavelength is measured from the output power ratio of two adjacent AWG outputs in dB scale.
