Abstract

The L-Band fibre amplifier (1570 nm–1610 nm) is an essential component for Dense WDM system. There are several approaches to construct an L-Band amplifier. These include the use of several pump sources,1 the use of dispersion-shifted fibre,2 and the use of gain equalizers or circula-tors.3–7 These methods are expensive and complicated and the amplifier bandwidth are not necessarily wide.
