Abstract

Thanks to, or because of, Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), it is today widely known and recognized that polarization effects in single-mode fibers must be mastered for the realization of higher bandwidth optical communication systems. In this presentation, we shall review various measurement issues, several of them being still a matter for research and development.
