Stability of the change of the third-order nonlinearity in silica fibre

Abstract

The change of third order nonlinearity in silica fibre caused by poling is stable under UV or thermal erasure. The third order nonlinearity, like the linear refractive index, can be modulated by UV irradiation alone.
