Outage Probability of High Speed Transmission Systems: The Impact of PMD in Comparison to other Disruptive Effects

Abstract

The PMD tolerance of 10 Gbit/s transmission systems is calculated for a given DGD tolerance. The unavailability of the transmission system due to PMD is chosen relatively to the unavailability caused by other disruptive effects.
