The fabrication and modelling of non-silica microstructured optical fibres

Abstract

We present for the first time a non-silica mircostructured optical fibre designed to guide light at 5 μm using gallium lanthium suphide glass. We present the results of optical modelling of the structure as well as a discussion on possible applications.
