Abstract

We present an optical gain equalization approach using all-optical liquid-crystal devices and the harmonic synthesis approach. The functionality of optical harmonic equalizers (OHEs) is to dynamically adjust the gain profiles of optical amplifiers by generating required transfer functions with a series of variable harmonic filters.
