Novel optical frequency discriminator with "perfect" Linearity

Abstract

FM detection is possible with incoherent receivers and linear frequency filters. Our novel filter-composed of dispersion compensating fiber gratings-is compared to Mach Zehnder discriminators. Furthermore, this approach generalizes to arbitrary filter spectra.
