PMD-indueed reduction of nonlinear penalties in terrestrial optical fiber transmission

Abstract

We simulated optical fiber transmission with large PMD using realistic parameters. We found that nonlinearly-induced chirp coupled to second-order PMD can lead to a penalty reduction.
