Field evaluation of an optical PMD compensator using an installed 10 Gbit/s system

Abstract

We report, for the first time, results correlating PMD compensation performance to system instantaneous DGD over installed fibre. We also report accurate replication of the installed fibre PMD conditions in a laboratory environment, providing accelerated PMD exploration.
