Polarization Mode Dispersion Emulator

Abstract

We investigate a new technique to realistically emulate polarization mode dispersion. We demonstrate that 15 sections of polarization-maintaining fiber with randomly rotatable connections emulates an almost ideal Maxwellian DGD distribution, whereas fixed connections is inadequate.
