Abstract

MCIWORLDCOM and Nortel Networks have combined vision and resources to deploy the world's first 1 terabit/s field trial carrying live traffic over a bi-directional 4-span NDSF link. The setup is comprised of 100×10 Gb/s modulated channels in the C-band and L-band. These channels were multiplexed onto a single fiber, and transmitted over four amplified spans of NDSF (approximately 200 km) including dispersion compensation.
