Abstract

In radio-on-fiber mm-wave wireless access networks, to generate and transport millimeter(mm)wave signal over an optical fiber link between the central control station and the base stations, the external modulation, in which a cw laser light is modulated with mm-wave signal by using an external modulator, would be the promising for realizing low-cost antenna base stations, compared to the other techniques including optical self-heterodyning and up- and down-conversion techniques[I].
