Abstract
Servo-controlled attenuators are used within the network elements of multiwavelength optical networks as power equalizers to compensate for the interchannel power variations due to the non-flat gain of Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and due to the fact that signals do not originate at the same point [1].
